China de Burnay is a painter, illustrator and engraver. China regards herself as a European - half English and half Portuguese. She was brought up in an eclectic mix of artists and performers, and cannot recall a time when she didn't paint and draw. China spent her early life travelling throughout England, Spain, France and Portugal, but her roots are in England. China went on to train at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts in London where she studied painting, engraving and sculpture, going on to specialize in Fine Art, and graduating with an NDD.
After leaving Camberwell, she went on to work for Liberty's where she did design work. She then became freelance and has exhibited in London, Estoril and Barcelona. China then relocated to Essex, embracing the country scene and working as a wildlife artist. During the last few years, Chins has been developing her technique in acrylic paints often focusing on light, space and strong composition on a larger scale. |
